Three times a week,
we crack open sleep-stuck eyes,
grumble out of bed into gym shorts,
tank tops, tennis shoes, schlep
caffeine-starved selves to treadmills,
weight benches, submit to increasingly
futile attempts to thwart time,
other days we linger,
